Veronica’s Coronation Message

Veronica’s Coronation Message

A promise to God…

On May 6th we’ll see king Charles crowned as His Majesty King Charles the III.

History in the making, and for many the first time they witness a Royal Coronation.

The words, music and pageantry will tie us to the past, the present and the future as we remember previous monarchs crowned at Westminster Abbey, enjoy the celebration as we watch, and listen to King Charles as he makes his promises for his reign ahead.

As the head of the Church of England Charles also connects us to God.

UCB’s publication Word for Today reminded me that only a few days after his Accession, The King met with leaders of different religions and faith and spoke about love being at the heart of his Christian belief, sending a clear and positive message that speaks of his commitment to his personal faith and the value he places on unity and care between all people.

There is another King of course who cares even more than this: Jesus, the King of kings.

Jesus also ties us into the past, the present and the future for He is the God who never changes, He is the same Yesterday, Today and Forever, and His love is unconditional and infinite.

As we celebrate with picnics, red, white and blue bunting, and an extra Bank Holiday, may we remember ‘The One’ our new King serves, as he makes his promise to God in the strength of Christ Jesus.

‘Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.’                    Isaiah 40: 28

May His Majesty King Charles be blessed with courage, wisdom, strength and Godly love as he makes his promises before God and God’s people.

In Jesus’ Name

Amen
