MARBURY VILLAGE EVENT MARKS 40 YEARS !

The 40th Marbury Merry Days on the weekend of Saturday & Sunday, 11th & 12th May, promises to be the best ever !

This popular and traditional two-day country fair is a truly family event with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of St. Michael’s Church, which overlooks Marbury Mere.  Merry Days is held on the field which adjoins both the churchyard and the mere – an absolutely beautiful and typically English setting.

This year’s main attraction will be the popular re-enactment group The Sealed Knot, with skirmishes and loud cannon fire on Saturday, and a children’s army, marching and skirmish displays on Sunday, in addition to their Living History camp on the field.

Saturday will also see the Glo* Dance & Cheer Troupe performing in the Main Ring, children from Wrenbury School giving a display of Maypole Dancing on the Church Terrace, and performances by the Farndon & District Brass Band.

The Fun Dog Show and Dog & Terrier Racing will both take place on Sunday with entries on the day for both events – £1 per entry for the Dog Show from 12 noon on the Church Terrace, free entry for the Racing.

The delightful Pinxton Puppets will be with us again – as popular with adults as with their younger audience ! – and they’ll give three shows each day. Other attractions include bouncy castles, a floral display and organ music in the Church, model aircraft flying, a children’s activity area, classic cars, side shows, Craft & Gift Fair marquees and trade stands.  Refreshments are available from the Tea Tent, Bacon Bap stall and Ice Cream stand.

Gates open at 12.30 pm.   Admission is £5 for adults, £1 for children under 16 (free if with an adult). Dogs are welcome.  Car parking at own risk is free.
