World Vision & Pumpkin Heroes at Marbury

World Vision is the world’s largest international children’s charity, working to bring real hope to millions of children in the world’s hardest places. And we do it all as a sign of God’s unconditional love.

Poverty, conflict and disaster leave millions of children living in fear. Fear of hunger and disease. Fear of violence, conflict and exploitation. Fear that robs them of a childhood.

World Vision provide their ‘Pumpkin Heroes’ packs to churches and children’s groups as an alternative to Halloween. This years pack included a storybook about Patch the Pumpkin, a young pumpkin who sets out on an adventure to discover how sharing our light and love keeps us all warm as we head towards the dark winter nights. It celebrates light rather than darkness as we traditionally do at Halloween.

Rebecca used the pack for our October Storytime session. After listening to the story the children made paper pumpkin lanterns, which are currently on display in St Michaels, and Pumpkin hearts. World Vision were kind enough to share our efforts on their Facebook page
