Whitewell Harvest Festival and Harvest Supper
Our Harvest Festival service this year was a delightful Family Service, at which children enacted the key message of the sermon by trying to put together some pieces of railway track into a viable model railway. The problem was that one group had all the straight pieces, and the other had all the curves, so neither group was successful. Musical entertainment was provided by Jenny Ralphs who accompanied the children on the piano. The message from the game, of course, was that we need to work together and share in order to succeed. A collection of produce was made. That which was suitable was passed on to the Whitchurch Food Bank, while fresh produce was later sold off at The Harvest Supper. The money raised, and the collection plate from the service were also shared with the Foodbank. Around 70 people enjoyed our traditional Harvest Supper in the Parish Rooms, of cottage pie and mushy peas, followed by fruit pie and cream. In another demonstration of sharing, all the food was supplied by members of the congregation. Church Warden Carolyn Wort, and the Rector, Revd. Veronica, thanked all those who had helped and supported the event.
